The workshop aims to highlight the fundamentals of radiation protection and adherence to professional standards when handling radioactive sources in the workplace. It also covers the different types of radiation detectors used for detecting X-rays, gamma rays, and alpha and beta particles. In addition, the program provides training on calibration methods for survey and radiation monitoring instruments, introducesthe factors influencing radiation protection procedures, and explains methods of measuring personal doses.
Theworkshop covers scientific aspects on safety in radiation laboratories, an overview of radiation detectors, permissible dose limits for workers and thepublic and their units, an introduction to the radiation calibrationlaboratory, practical field exercises on the calibration of radiation surveyinstruments, followed by discussion and analysis of the results.
