This workshop introduces participants to advanced modeling techniques in ANSYS implicit and explicit (LS-DYNA) solvers for analyzing steel–concrete composite structures subjected to static andimpact loads. Through guided examples and hands-on exercises, attendees will earn how to build representative finite element models, define nonlinearmaterial behavior, and apply appropriate contact and boundary conditions.Special emphasis will be placed on best practices for capturing interaction effects between steel and concrete, selecting between implicit and explicit for mulations for different nuclear applications, and understandingsteel–concrete composite design in accordance with AISC N690
‒A computer with ANSYS Workbench and LS-DYNA installed
‒Basic familiarity with ANSYS Mechanical, LS-DYNA, and Space Claim.
‒Build accurate finite element models ofsteel–concrete composite structures for static and impact analysis.
‒Gain hands-on experience in definingnonlinear concrete material behavior and applying appropriate contact andboundary conditions.
‒Select and apply implicit or explicitsolver techniques effectively for different nuclear engineering applications.
‒Introduction to SC Design (AISC N690Appendix N9) – 30–40 min
‒Workshop 1: ANSYS Implicit – 60–70 min(including setup, modeling, and discussion)
‒Workshop 2: ANSYS LS-DYNA (Explicit) –60–70 min (including setup, modeling, and discussion)
